Spend an electrifying morning exploring Powering the Future!
Saturday, May 9, 2026: 8 – 9:30 a.m.
Powering the Future is Griffin Museum of Science and Industry’s newest major permanent exhibit, exploring how energy shapes our everyday lives today and tomorrow. Members are invited to be the first to see the energizing new exhibit, featuring the two-story ComEd Coil and a climbing structure that turns your potential energy into kinetic energy.
- This exhibit features two slides, both of which have an age and height requirement of six years old and over 44 in. (111 cm.) tall and under 350 lbs. (159 kg.) Appropriate shoes and clothing are required.
- Large bags are not allowed on the slide. Storage is available in nearby stroller parking or coat check in the Entry Hall.More event details
- This event is free for members with advance registration. Members may reserve tickets up to the admit number listed on your membership card. Register today!

- Crafting Character: The Costumes of Paul Tazewell and The Idea Factory will also be available during these morning hours.
- Anne Frank The Exhibition will open at 9 a.m.
- Giant Dome Theater, Coal Mine and The Blue Paradox will be available during regular Museum hours.
- Donuts and coffee will be available in the Museum Kitchen dining area.
- Parking is free for all member levels at these events; make sure to pick up a parking pass from our info table, if needed.
