Griffin MSI is Chicago’s number one field trip destination, and we are proud to be many young people’s first foray into STE(A)M. We invite you to bring your learners to experience hands-on, real-world examples of discovery. Watch your students experiment, explore and discover through immersive exhibits that bring classroom concepts to life. General Admission is free for Illinois Pre-K-12 schools and discounted for out-of-state schools. Illinois teachers also can visit for free every day just by showing an educator ID card.
Anne Frank The Exhibition

Experience the life and legacy of Anne Frank in a powerful new way. Anne Frank The Exhibition is an immersive, full-scale recreation of the Annex where Anne Frank, her family and four other Jewish inhabitants lived in hiding during the Nazi occupation of the Netherlands. Step inside the meticulously reconstructed Annex and reflect on the daily challenges, risks and courage of those who hid there before their arrest and deportation in 1944.
Anne Frank The Exhibition is free for students and chaperones (1 per 10 students) on field trips with advance reservations.

Learning Labs

Jr. Science Cafés
These learning experiences aim to change the perception of a "traditional" STE(A)M professional by engaging professionals of all ages, backgrounds, interests, and career paths, conveying that anyone can pursue a career in STE(A)M.

In addition to the Giant Dome Theater films currently showing, teachers can select a film from our library and schedule a special showing for their students.

Planning for your trip
We've got everything you need to make your visit one to remember!
One chaperone per 10 students in grades 4 - 12 and one chaperone per five students in grades K - 3 is admitted free. Let us know if you are a special needs group that requires additional chaperones.
Field trip tips
The Museum is committed to providing a quality experience for all guests. Make the most of your field trip with these useful suggestions.
Familiarize yourself with the building and exhibits. Illinois teachers receive free General Admission by showing an educator ID at our ticket counter.
Our Education team also provides a workshop to help teachers make the most of their visit called Field Trip Flip.
Our facilitated, hands-on Learning Labs provide in-depth learning experiences for school groups. We have Museum Learning Labs suitable for grades 3 through 12 in a variety of STE(A)M topics.
The Museum offers acres of exhibit space to explore! Set realistic expectations about how much your group can accomplish and what you want your students to learn. Our exhibits are designed to spark interest and engage the visitor. Rushing to see the entire Museum in one trip can be a frustrating experience. Use our map or visit planning tool to decide what to see and do.
Virtual field trips
When you can't come to Griffin MSI participate in a facilitated Virtual Learning Lab. These experiences provide accessible and flexible options for educators and offer a wide range of activities, regardless of distance and time.
