Explore science through focused, hands-on discovery.

Learning Labs

Connect classroom learning to real-world science and engineering. Learning Labs help students apply concepts, ask meaningful questions and see how science shows up in everyday life. Through guided investigation and active problem-solving, students strengthen understanding, build practical skills and explore possible pathways into STE(A)M careers. Each session is aligned to the Next Generation Science Standards and Common Core Literacy Standards, supporting curriculum goals while engaging a wide range of learners. Programs are designed to accommodate students with diverse learning, language and physical needs.

Mobile Learning Labs

Bring Museum learning directly to your students. Deliver standards-aligned science programming without leaving your building. Mobile Learning Labs bring materials, structure and expert facilitation to schools, libraries and community centers. Students engage in focused investigations that reinforce classroom content while building curiosity and confidence. Everything needed for the session is provided, making it easy to integrate meaningful science learning into your existing schedule.

Mobile Chem Lab (grades 4 – 8)

Combine chemicals and witness amazing reactions

Mobile Crime Lab (grades 4 – 8)

Analyze pieces of evidence as a specialized forensic scientist

Mobile Mars 2040 (grades 5 – 8)

Plan a trip to Mars in time for the first crewed flight to the Red Planet

Students and instructor in medical scrubs discussing medical mannikin on table

Mobile MedLab (grades 6 – 12)

Measure vital signs and learn what they can tell you about a patient

Mobile Water Lab (grades 3 – 6)

Test the health of our most valuable resource – our drinking water

Mobile Weather Wise (grades 3 – 5)

Learn how important patterns are in predicting weather.

Virtual Learning Labs

Flexible learning that meets students wherever they are. Virtual Learning Labs bring Learning Lab experiences into classrooms online, offering flexible options for educators and students regardless of location. More programs coming in 2026, stay tuned!

Students in classroom watching live heart surgery on screens

Live from the Heart

See medical science in action. Live from the Heart offers students a rare opportunity to observe a real heart surgery through live video. Students learn directly from a surgical team while Griffin MSI educators guide discussion, answer questions and explore heart health and medical careers.

Museum Learning Labs

Deepen learning through on-site exploration. Museum Learning Labs take place at Griffin MSI and provide students with hands-on access to STE(A)M learning led by the Museum education team. These sessions support classroom goals through focused investigation and shared discovery.

Colorful Chemistry (grades 4 – 8)

See what happens when you mix chemicals and add some heat.

Crime Lab (grades 4 – 8)

Solve a crime with fingerprint analysis, chromatography, white powder analysis and more.

Engineering Design: Bridges (grades 4 – 8)

Design, build and test bridges with the engineering design cycle.

Mars 2040 (grades 6 – 8)

Keep a colony of humans on Mars alive, using real research to investigate how to meet their needs.

MedLab: Asthma (grades 7 – 12)

Analyze cells and complete real medical tests to diagnose asthma in a human patient simulator.

MedLab: Diabetes (grades 7 – 12)

Diagnose diabetes by using medical tests, lab tools and a human patient simulator.

MedLab: Heart Disease (grades 7 – 12)

Diagnose heart disease with medical tests, equipment and a human patient simulator.

Moving With Newton (grades 4 – 8)

Explore Isaac Newton's three laws of motion through hands-on activities with energy and forces.
