Field Trip Flip

Teachers will be challenged to “flip the script” on field trips

About the workshop

The field trip is a rite of passage for students, but it can also be an opportunity for teachers to connect their instruction to a shared experience that will enrich a unit of instruction This workshop is designed for any K-12 grade teacher — in any content area — who wants to learn how to utilize Griffin MSI or any cultural center near you in a more meaningful way to foster student learning. Field trips are always fun. Learn how to make yours the start of an exciting learning cycle. This half-day workshop allows participants to:

  • Explore how to use a cultural center (like Griffin MSI) as a phenomenon to spark learning and curiosity in your students at the start of instruction.
  • Generate ideas for how to connect learning opportunities to a shared student experience or phenomenon.

This four-hour workshop is conducted at the Griffin Museum of Science and Industry and includes parking and Continuing Education hours for Illinois educators.
